voicethread

  1. Voicethread was a bit of a challenge for me mostly because it was hard to decide what to say and how to say it. I have thought of ways in which a teacher may incorporate this into their teaching and the first one that jumps out at me would be a Dual Language class. This program would be a good way for students that come from other countries to practice their English speaking skills. The students could either bring a picture of something that is important to them; such as a parent or a grandparent, a friend, an aunt or uncle, a cousin or even a pet, they could upload the picture and talk about the subject or subjects in the photo. If they could not bring a photo of something special to them then they could find something similar on the internet and talk about that. The great thing about this activity is that the student could use this on a day to day or week to week basis and by the end of the school year the student could compare the sound of their voice from the beginning of the school year to the end and see the improvement that was made. As well the teacher can hear the changes that have transpired within that time. Voicethread can also be used in a foreign language class with about the same principles being used. This program can also be used with any age group so if an adult wanted to learn another language the progress could be monitored.
